Welcome Back Students and Families!
Are you ready for an amazing 2016-2017 school year? I can’t wait for your return! The summer has been filled with many exciting enrichment programs that allowed our students to continue their growth and development.
We had an incredible 2015-2016 school year, but we are only getting started. As I head into my second year, I have a clearer understanding of what our students, teachers, staff, and parents need in order to reach that next level. The “Expectations of a Judge” are the same; trust, respect, effort, attitude, courage, and pride. These six pillars are vital as we strive for greatness.
One main area of focus will always be on strengthening relationships. We will begin each day at 8:25 in “Pride Time” (formerly called Advisory/Judges’ Hour). This will be a great way to touch base each morning, give students a chance to be better prepared for the day ahead, and allow us to give additional support as needed (academically, socially, and/or emotionally). If students give their best effort, if families are more engaged, and if teachers/staff have a positive attitude, we will take Handley High School from “good to Great!”
Always remember, “each day is an opportunity, not an obligation”...please make the most of each day and I will see you on Monday, August 8th ready to go! Now remember, school begins at 8:25, please be here before the first bell rings at 8:20. Enclosed is the agenda for our Handley Kick-Off (Open House/Orientation) on Thursday, August 4th. On this day, students will pick up their schedules, get their locker assignments, meet & greet teachers/staff, and enjoy a football scrimmage in the Handley Bowl with food and drinks (provided by JAA). A great way to kick-off the school year!
What will 2016-2017 bring? Who will reach that next level? I can’t wait to find out!!!
